We will be fishing the big side of the lake of there is good Ice and the small side if we have poor Ice Conditions.

Friday February 7th, Seminar Series 5:00 pm – 9:00 pm (Driftwood)
 

Ice Fishing Fundamentals 5:00-7:00 pm

 

Free of charge and open to all. NAIFC Pro Staff will explain and demonstrate the basic skills needed and techniques used in ice fishing. Designed for the beginners and intermediate fisherman, Ice Fishing Fundamentals will provide basic skills used by every fisherman.
            Topics to include but not limited to:         Learn: Knot Tying
                                                                        Bait: how to put on a hook... how to keep alive
                                                                        Plastics: How and when to use.
                                                                        Jigs: Style, size and use.
                                                                        How to: Sharpen a hook.
                                                                        How to: Fillet a fish.
                                                                        Cooking/frying: breading basics.
                                                                        Strike detection: Spring bobbers, slip bobbers.

 
Seminar Speakers 7:00-8:30 pm
Social hour 6:00-7:00 pm
4-6 NAIFC Pro-staff will each speak for 15-20 minutes covering one techniques or piece of equipment in-depth. This portion of the NAIFC Friday Night Seminar program is geared toward educating fishermen to the world of Tournament Ice Fishing. Learn how to use the best products and cutting edge techniques in the ice industry. The seminar is free of charge and open to the public. The goal is to put attendees on the fast track to becoming highly skilled anglers, eventually becoming teachers to their friends and fishers in the local community. 

Round table discussions with NAIFC Pro Staff after the seminar 8:30-9:00pm
After the speakers are done those attending the seminar are invited to get up close and personal, talking to NAIFC Pro Staff one-on-one about how they go about catching fish.
 
 

Cabela's Kids Ice Camp February 8th, 1:00 pm – 3:30 pm

Free of charge, open to all kids. . Each youth that attends the Kids Ice Camp will receive a free HT Enterprises Ice Rod and promotional items for their future ice fishing adventures.

In class tutorial (Newaygo Middle School) 1:00pm - 2:00pm
NAIFC Pro Staff will demonstration indoors in a classroom setting: Ice Safety, Bait, Equipment and Jigging.

On Ice fishing (TBA) 2:00pm- 3:30 pm
Parents must accompany their kids during the on ice portion of this event. The kids and parents will then be invited to fish with the NAIFC Pro Staff.  Equipment will be provided. This is an outdoor event, please dress for the weather. This is an excellent opportunity to introduce a new way for kids to enjoy what the outdoors has to offer. Winter Fishing and introduction to the newest technology will give the parent and child a first look at ice fishing.
 
 

Saturday February 8th Rules Meeting 5:00 pm – 8:30 pm (Water Edge Golf Club)

This meeting is mandatory for at least one team member. Come early, have diner, get your packets, and relax before the big day. The Rules meeting will start promptly at 7:00. 

 

From 5:00 – 6:00 pm late registration will be accepted up to 150 teams for an additional $20 fee. To avoid late fees register online or call Kathy at 320-252-0428, before Friday.

 

Sunday February 9th Indoor Weigh-In 2:00 pm (The American Legion)
 

Come watch as the Teams weigh in their “Catch of the Day”. Find out which Teams will automatically get an invitation or did they accumulate enough points to secure their spot for the National Championship. Who will be competing for the Gold Rings and the honor of being called the 2014 National Champions!
