Experts in the Rhinelander, WI area are forecasting what is expected to be a “significant outbreak” of Ice Mania over the December 17th – 20th time period.
Ice Mania, clinically known as “Glacies Appareo”, is a condition that occurs predominantly in humans and is characterized by excessive or intense enthusiasm, interest, or compulsion for all aspects of ice fishing. Little is known about the exact cause of Ice Mania; however experts do agree on three key indicators: that the condition does not discriminate in age or gender, that it manifests mostly in residents of what is commonly called the “Ice Belt” region of the United States, and that it only seems to occur whenever several inches of ice is found covering medium- to large-sized bodies of freshwater known to contain fish. 2009 NAIFC Championship Fishing Boundaries on Boom Lake
The preliminary boundaries are set for the 2009 NAIFC Championship on Boom Lake. Anglers participating in the event should be ready to fish any water on the system. There are many factors that can contribute to the adjustment of boundaries, at any time leading up to the event. The above image shows the intended fishing areas, in orange, for the upcoming event. The final boundaries will be set at the rules meeting, the Friday night prior to the event.
