Midwest Open Qualifies For NAIFC Satellite Tournament
By Mike McNett | September 1st, 2008It’s official; Knutson’s Midwest Open will be a qualifier for the 2009 NAIFC Championship. For the past several years the tournament has been held on Wampler’s Lake, a premier sunfish lake. Tom Knutson plans on rotating the Midwest Open Tournament every year to a new lake to keep the pressure off the local fishery and on the fishers. I have heard that in Devil’s Lake the sunnies are just as big as Wamplers but the crappies are even bigger.
The Midwest open will be controlled by the Knutson’s from the registration to the weigh-in. The rules for the tournament are virtually the same as the NAIFC. Please submit any questions for the tournament to Tom or Jim Knutson by calling 800.248.9318. DO NOT register for the tournament by calling Kathy Roberts or paying through the NAIFC site. Registration must be done through Knutson’s. Please do not call Kathy and ask her details of the Midwest Open tournament.
There is one major difference for the Midwest Open; the entry fee per team is only $120.00. Are they out of their minds? No….just doing their best to make it reasonable on the hip national bank. So, if you plan on waiting until the last moment to sign up for this one you’ll be left out in the cold. My prediction is this will fill up fast so get on board while there is still room for passengers.
I talked to Tom and Jim Knutson today. They plan on having a web site for the tournament up sometime in the next 30-60 days. All of the details about the rules meeting and weigh in location are yet to be solved. You are welcome to call and sign up but please give them some time to iron out the details. As soon as we know you’ll know.
